This class is taught by:

Robin Farina

Robin has had a long run in professional sports, competing at the highest level in Women’s Cycling. Towards the end of her career, she wanted to broaden her scope by learning about wine, food, and travel. Over the last 10 years, she has focused on learning different facets of the wine industry through her studies in the WSET program, where she is a Diploma candidate and holds her Professional Wine Educators Certificate. She also loves her community and is heavily involved.
In her spare time, Robin loves being outside riding bikes, playing Pickleball, being active, and spending time with her partner, Kurt, and her GSP Lucy.
She lives in Nevada City, CA, but is originally from Nashville, TN, where she still has family roots.
Health and Fitness is her true passion, and she loves sharing her energy and knowledge with the members of South Yuba Club.

Scott McIntosh

Fitness training has been a priority in my life since my early thirties when I became interested in triathlon racing. Balancing my daily training with a demanding Veterinary profession was a challenge. To make the most efficient use of my daily training time, I used a heart rate monitor to identify my optimal training zones. By training efficiently, I was able to qualify for and complete the Kona Hawaiian Ironman in both 1986 and 1987.
I continued competing in triathlons for the next 20 years, retired from my Veterinary practice in 2000 and made fitness training my full-time job. Because of my background in cycling and triathlon, I was chosen as a Master Spinning Instructor by Madd Dogg Athletics and traveled the country training cycling instructors. In 2001 I began coaching local athletes utilizing metabolic testing to more accurately identify training zones based on VO2 Max, resting metabolic rate, anaerobic threshold and blood lactate levels.
In 2004 I became certified as a Medical Exercise Specialist through ACE Fitness and started my new fitness company Fittmetrix LLC (www.fittmetrix.com).
Currently I teach power-based cycling through the Stages program at South Yuba Club and offer metabolic testing with the latest equipment (VO2 Master) and training software (INSCYD).
My goal is to offer training and coaching for any fitness level based on their unique fitness metrics.

Kathy Dotson

Kathy Dotson’s fitness journey began in a 1980s SoCal aerobics studio alongside her mom—think tights, headbands, and leotards. Inspired by those energetic instructors, she knew one day she'd lead classes herself.
Years later, after joining South Yuba Club in Nevada City, Kathy reluctantly tried her first Spinning class—thinking it was some kind of dance class—but was instantly hooked. As the workout transformed her body and mindset, she decided to become an instructor.
With a knack for crafting great playlists, Kathy got certified through the Madd Dogg Spinning program in 2012 and began teaching at SYC. Known for her motivating energy and music-driven rides, she combines drills, metrics, and intervals for an effective and fun workout.
Kathy teaches Cycle Fit, Stages Gauges, and a cycle/core combo class. Off the bike, she enjoys time with her husband and two daughters, works as a graphic designer and political activist, and loves catching live music.

Kurt Stockton

Kurt Stockton is a multi-faceted former professional cyclist, business owner, promotion/marketing manager, product developer, cycling team owner/manager/ director and race/event organizer with over 45 years of cycling experience.
Kurt began riding a bike soon after he could walk, raced BMX in grade school, began road racing in 1982 and competed as a professional road and mountain bike racer throughout the 90’s. In 1990 Kurt won the coveted US Professional National Road championship and is a two-time member of the US Professional World Championships road race team as well as a member of the 1994 US Mountain Bike World Championships team.
Over the past 45 years, Kurt has ridden or raced in 35 of the 50 states and over 20 different countries. During that time, no more than a month has gone by without Kurt riding his bike.
Kurt looks forward to sharing his cycling experience with South Yuba Club members and help to evolve the indoor cycling program.
Cycle Gauges combines high energy programming and power based training to turn every class into a personalized session. Using a FTP power meter and the coach by color system, each bike measures heart rate, power, RPM and more to dial in your workout so that you get the best results possible from every ride - whether you’re a first-time indoor cyclist or a seasoned athlete.
