A Different Type of Health Club:
Imaginative, Informative, Fun and a Place to Relax

Reprinted from The Union newspaper, Grass Valley, CA

The South Yuba Club is not just a new gym for Nevada County, but a user-friendly, "home-away-from-home kind of place" where you can get the guidance you need to achieve your objectives and where exercising is fun.

"It’s an exciting, new alternative. Our focus is on meeting the social, recreational and health-related needs of people," says Mike Carville, one of the owners. "Attaining a healthy lifestyle is a process, and we’re committed to providing our customers with the environment, support and knowledge to help them."

As new visitors walk around, they easily see the newness and high quality of the facility and the equipment. Comments Carville, "In just a few minutes, as they meet the staff and understand the programming, they begin to see just how different the SYC is from the typical club." The difference exists because the SYC was founded upon a different set of principles. "The typical health club has average equipment and an untrained staff," states Carville. Members can’t get the expertise and support they need from a typical fitness club. They may have hardware but not the software (programming).

"Strength and wellness have tangible, positive results in real life," says Carville. "You can stay away from hospitals and maintain independence both physically and mentally into your 80’s and 90’s." The idea for The South Yuba Club is simple: Everyone is welcome. We don’t care who you are, how young or old you are, what you look like or what shape you’re in. All we want is to get you moving, get your heart beating and your lungs pumping, your muscles working, your mind stretching and your smile widening. That sounds simple but to be effective you must have a staff of experts and great programming. "A well-trained, high-quality staff and good programs help people attain their goals," states Carville. "It is a question of value. A higher quality staff costs more," points out Carville. "You don’t choose your heart surgeon by the lowest bidder and you shouldn’t choose the low bidder fitness club." It is a question of value. In life, you get what you pay for.
